Cassie Ventura's Powerful Testimony at Sean 'Diddy' Combs Trial: Day 2 Complete Recap

The trial of Sean "Diddy" Combs continued for a second day on Tuesday, May 13, with jurors hearing testimony from his former partner, Cassie Ventura, the prosecution’s key witness. Ventura described her decade-long relationship with the music mogul, detailing alleged abuse, including coerced sexual encounters with male sex workers while Combs observed.
Prosecutors claim Combs operated a criminal enterprise, using drugs, threats, and violence to force individuals into orchestrated sex acts dubbed "freak offs," linking his actions to charges of sexual abuse, drug crimes, arson, and kidnapping. Combs’ defense argued that the allegations, while possibly indicative of domestic violence, do not amount to sex trafficking, and criticized the prosecution for delving into his private life.
Combs faces charges of sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation for prostitution, to which he has pleaded not guilty, denying all accusations.
Ventura testified that during "freak offs," Combs or an escort would sometimes urinate on her. “Sometimes Sean — he, himself, or an escort would urinate on me,” she said, describing the act as “humiliating” and non-consensual. “I don’t want anyone to urinate on me,” she added. “Sean would urinate in my mouth — not super often but often enough.” She also recounted being choked due to “too much urine in my mouth.”
Ventura further testified that Combs once instructed her to enter a blow-up pool filled with baby oil, despite her reluctance. “Something that Sean wanted to happen, that’s what was going to happen,” she said. The September 2024 indictment noted that authorities found 1,000 bottles of baby oil in Combs’ homes, a figure disputed by his attorney.
Ventura described an incident during a Los Angeles "freak off" when Combs learned his rival, Suge Knight, was nearby. Alerted by his security guard, D-Roc, Combs and his entourage quickly left to confront Knight. “They quickly packed up and drove down there,” Ventura said. “I was crying, I was screaming, ‘Don’t do anything stupid.’ I just was really nervous for them, I didn’t know what it meant, what they were going to do.” Ventura said she was given a gun to hold in her purse for over an hour while under the influence of mushrooms, feeling “terrified” it might discharge. “I had no idea why I had it in the first place,” she said. “Always felt like it was a scare tactic.”
Ventura also testified that Combs controlled her life, punishing her by having security confiscate her phone or laptop for varying periods. When asked if he took anything else, she replied, “my self confidence.” She said Combs dictated her appearance, enforcing exercise regimens and specific manicures for "freak offs." “Some days he would want me to be really sexy,” she said, “and be his woman other days.”
Ventura described "freak offs" as grueling, sometimes lasting over four days. “The longest was 4 days or even more with breaks,” she said. “Then I was recovering from the drugs, dehydration — just trying to stay awake all the time.” She added, “The Freak Offs became a job.”
Ventura, who signed a 10-album deal with Combs’ Bad Boy Records in 2006 but released only one album, testified about staying with Combs at the Trump International Hotel in Manhattan. She said Combs introduced her to oral sex, noting their 17-year age gap. “Sean taught me how. He gave me oral sex, I did not reciprocate— I just went home,” she said. “I heard about it from him. He made me feel crazy for not reciprocating but I didn’t understand and I was in a relationship with someone else.”
Ventura alleged Combs recorded their intimate moments, calling the footage blackmail materials.” “He had many resources to do that,” she said. She also recounted Combs kissing her on her 21st birthday in Las Vegas, despite her discomfort. “I was really confused at the time, you know, new artist,” she said. “I was pretty naive.” She added, “I wanted to be around Sean for the same reasons as everyone else at the time. This exciting, entertaining, fun guy who also happened to have my career in his hands.”
Visibly pregnant at eight-and-a-half months, Ventura spoke softly about Combs’ control over her life. “He controlled a lot of my life,” she said. She described her early naivety and desire to please, noting Combs introduced her to sexual voyeurism. Ventura explained "freak offs" involved hiring male escorts and “setting up this experience,” leaving her with “nervousness and confusion.”
During cross-examination, Combs’ attorney Xavier Donaldson questioned male escort Phillip, who said Ventura paid him for sex while Combs watched, suggesting the encounter was consensual. “Was Ventura the one who paid you?” Donaldson asked. “Yes,” Phillip replied. When asked if Ventura was in control, Phillip said, “I cannot say that.”
Combs entered the Manhattan courtroom in a light-colored sweater, greeting his family and attorneys. Judge Arun Subramanian indicated he might allow media access to graphic videos shown to the jury, balancing privacy and public interest, with a final decision pending. Combs’ attorney Marc Agnifilo requested Ventura be seated before the jury due to her pregnancy’s potential to evoke sympathy. “Pregnancy is beautiful and wonderful,” Agnifilo said. “It is also a source of potential sympathy.”
